CONSIDER YOURSELF A NERD

Met Charles' friend Rick and his wife Joanna for dim sum today for lunch; that was an interesting experience. It was very handy having Joanna along, as she's from Hong Kong and could talk to the waitresses. Went to the La Brea Tar Pits today; alas the working excavations aren't open this time of year, but we did see the pits themselves as well as the museum associated with it. Then we went to the Farmer's Market and the Grove, a shopping area that's been added to gentrify the area. Dinner was at a place called the Fish Grill, a kosher fish fry place that was crammed with orthodox-looking Jews. The fish was okay--Charles and Joanna's sea bass was overcooked, and my fish and chips had been in the fryer longer than was entirely necessary, but it was still pretty good.

We fly out to Cleveland tomorrow night around 11:30 PM, weather permitting--it looks like Cleveland might be a little snowy day after tomorrow. In the meantime we check out of our hotel, and hopefully hit the natural history museum, and maybe hang out with

berek a little more.
